Terms of service
Last updated October 9, 2026
Sanad is operated by Taj Asset Management, an Ohio limited liability company ("Sanad", "we", "us"). These terms are an agreement between you and us. By texting Sanad or buying a membership, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy policy. If you don't agree, text STOP and don't use Sanad.
1. What Sanad is
- Sanad is a paid AI companion you text in Messages. It answers Islamic and everyday questions, with Quran and hadith sources where it has them. It helps you pray on time with reminders and check-ins (a short follow-up after a prayer) that you choose.
- Sanad is software. Your messages are answered by AI, not a person. It is not an imam, a scholar or a mufti, and not a licensed professional of any kind. Its answers can be wrong (section 9). Sanad tells you it is an AI when you first text it and whenever you ask, and never claims to be human. Our team can view conversations to run, support and fix the service, as the Privacy policy explains.
- Messages travel over Apple iMessage, or over SMS through your mobile carrier when iMessage isn't available. Message and data rates may apply.
- Sanad works in one-to-one chats only, not group chats.
2. Who can use Sanad
- You must be 18 or older to subscribe.
- If you tell Sanad you are under 18 during setup, it closes the conversation and deletes what it has. After setup, it asks you to confirm by replying yes, and only then closes the account, deletes your data and switches off renewal of any membership. We review any payment made for a refund (section 7).
- Sanad is not for children under 13. If we learn that someone under 13 is using Sanad, we end their service and delete their data.
- Sanad is intended for people in the United States. If you use it from somewhere else, you are responsible for following your local law.
3. Religious content
- What Sanad shares is general educational information. It is not a fatwa and not a ruling on your personal case.
- Sanad answers from a Sunni perspective and is aware of the four schools (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, Hanbali). Where the schools differ, it tries to say so.
- For your own situation, such as a divorce, an inheritance, or whether something you did was valid, please speak with a qualified scholar.
- Sanad links sources so you can check for yourself. It can still be wrong.
4. Not an emergency or professional service
- Sanad is not an emergency, medical, mental-health or legal service.
- If a message matches a crisis phrase, or the AI reads it as one, Sanad sends a fixed reply that points to emergency services and a directory of real helplines. The reply is never written by the AI and asks nothing. If the AI then reads the message as being about you, Sanad pauses prayer check-ins for three days. Prayer reminders you chose keep coming.
- Sanad does not contact anyone on your behalf. If you are in danger, call your local emergency number now.
This is the reply, word for word, for someone whose saved city is in the United States. It arrives as three texts:
- "I'm really sorry you're feeling this way, and I'm glad you told me. You don't have to go through this alone."
- "If you're in danger right now, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. If you can, ask someone you trust to stay with you, and put some distance between you and anything you could use to hurt yourself."
- "You can call or text 988 any time to talk to someone. If you're outside the US right now, call your local emergency number, and https://findahelpline.com lists free helplines for your country. I can't contact anyone for you, but I'm still here if you want to keep talking."
If the same person sends another message like that within the hour, Sanad replies with one shorter text instead of the three: "I'm still here. If you're in danger right now, call 911. You can call or text 988 any time, day or night." If Sanad's reading afterwards is that the message was a question about the topic rather than about the person, it adds one line: "If you were asking a question rather than telling me about yourself, I'm sorry I misread it. Ask me again and I'll answer it properly."
Outside the United States, or before a city is saved, the same reply names your local emergency number instead. It is sent in English whatever your language setting.
5. Prayer times and reminders
- Prayer times are calculated estimates. They are based on the city you confirm and a standard calculation method. They can differ from your local mosque. You are responsible for confirming your prayer times.
- Reminders can arrive late or not at all because of your phone, your network, Apple or your carrier. A reminder that is more than a few minutes late is dropped. Don't rely on Sanad as your only way to know a prayer time.
- Check-ins only record what you tell Sanad. Silence is never recorded as a missed prayer.
6. Messages and consent
- Sanad replies to what you send. It also sends service messages about your account, such as a payment confirmation.
- Recurring prayer reminders and check-ins are sent only after you say yes to a specific plan shown in the chat.
- Message frequency depends on the prayers you choose. On a full day Sanad may send up to 5 prayer reminders; with check-ins on, 1 short follow-up after each prayer (about 10 minutes after prayer time, or the delay you chose, between 5 and 60 minutes) plus 1 check-back about 20 minutes after you reply that you haven't prayed yet (or, if you asked to be pushed harder, 1 extra nudge about 30 minutes after a follow-up you didn't answer), never more than two texts for a prayer; a short Jumu'ah message on Fridays if you asked for it; a rare "Still want your prayer reminders?" line after about five days without a message from you; and billing notices such as a payment confirmation or a failed-payment notice. That is up to about 18 messages a day before any answers to your own questions, which can arrive as several short texts. Reminders arrive at the prayer times you chose, including before dawn. You can also ask for a one-time reminder ("remind me at 9pm to read Surah al-Kahf"); it is sent once, within the next day, and then forgotten.
- You can set quiet hours. They silence follow-ups and the Friday message, but a prayer reminder you chose still arrives inside them. There are no quiet hours unless you set them.
- Sanad remembers short notes about your goals as you talk (see the Privacy Policy). It does not send follow-ups about them in this version.
- If you change your city or reminder settings by text, your reminders continue under the new settings. A change asked for by voice note is confirmed by text first. Restarting the chat never restores consent you turned off.
- We send no marketing texts without your separate consent.
- Text STOP REMINDERS to turn off reminders only. Text STOP to end all recurring messages at once. Text START to come back. Text HELP for help. STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, OPTOUT, END, QUIT and CANCEL (in capitals) are read by our messaging provider as opt-outs and stop every message at once.
- STOP does not cancel billing. Text cancel (in lowercase) to stop renewal, or BILLING to manage payment. A typed "cancel" gets a question and acts only when you reply yes. CANCEL in capitals also stops renewal, but because it is our provider's opt-out word it stops every message at once and you get no confirmation; you keep access until the end of the paid period. A cancel request still works after STOP, though you may not get a confirmation. To get a billing link after STOP, text START first.
- A request by voice note to cancel, delete or turn on reminders must be confirmed by text.
7. Membership, billing and renewal
- Answering questions, reminders and follow-ups need a paid membership. A question you ask before joining is held and answered after you pay. Help, billing help, STOP, DELETE and crisis resources always work without paying.
- The price is the price shown in the chat at checkout. You choose a monthly or yearly plan. Before any checkout link, the chat states the price, that it renews automatically until you cancel, how to cancel and that you keep access to the end of what you paid for, and links these terms and the Privacy Policy. The checkout page shows the exact amount before you pay. Prices exclude any sales tax we are required to collect.
- You pay through a secure checkout run by our partners Linq and Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
- Your membership renews automatically every month or every year, depending on your plan, until you cancel. Yearly plans are billed upfront.
- After you pay, you receive a text confirming your membership. You can ask Sanad at any time when it renews and which plan you are on.
- Cancel anytime. Text cancel, or text BILLING for a link to the billing portal. There you can cancel, change your payment method and see invoices. You can also email info@textsanad.com.
- When you cancel, renewal stops and you keep access until the end of the period you paid for. Cancelling alone leaves your reminders on until then, unless you turn them off or opt out as described in section 6.
- We don't give refunds or credits for past or partly used periods, unless the law requires it.
- If you text DELETE, renewal of your membership is switched off and your access ends right away. There is no refund for the current period.
- If a renewal payment fails, we text you once and access pauses until it is fixed.
- If we learn a member is under 18, renewal stops and we review the payment for a refund. A duplicate subscription on one account has its renewal switched off and the extra charge reviewed for refund.
- We will tell you about a price change before your next renewal, so you can cancel first.
8. Using Sanad fairly
Don't use Sanad to break the law, harass anyone, or share other people's private information. Don't try to break, probe or overload it, or send it automated messages. Rate limits apply. Sanad is for personal, non-commercial use. We may suspend or end service if you break these terms.
9. AI can be wrong
AI can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. It can mishear a voice note or misread a photo. Don't rely on Sanad alone for decisions that matter.
10. Your content and ours
You own what you send. You let us process it to run the service, as the Privacy policy describes. Sanad's software, name and original content belong to us. Quran translations, hadith collections and linked sites belong to their publishers. English Quran text is the Saheeh International translation, © Dar Abul-Qasim. Hadith English text comes from open datasets mirroring sunnah.com (translations © their publishers). Supplications include texts from the Fitrahive dua-dhikr collection (MIT licence) and from Hisn al-Muslim.
11. Other companies' services
Apple, your carrier, Linq, Stripe and linked sites such as quran.com, sunnah.com, hadeethenc.com and findahelpline.com have their own terms. We don't control them and aren't responsible for them.
12. No warranties
Sanad is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't promise that it will be accurate, error-free or always on, or that reminders will arrive on time. As far as the law allows, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
13. Limit of liability
As far as the law allows:
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data or profits.
- Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or 50 US dollars if that is more.
Some places don't allow these limits. There, they apply only as far as the law permits.
14. Ending service
You can leave anytime with cancel, STOP or DELETE. We may suspend or end service if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering Sanad. If we end a paid membership for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund the unused part of your prepaid period.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will post the new version at textsanad.com/terms with a new date. For important changes, we will tell you in the chat or on the site at least 30 days ahead. Using Sanad after a change takes effect means you accept it. If you don't agree, cancel before then.
16. Governing law and disputes
- The laws of the State of Ohio govern these terms. Nothing here removes consumer protections you have where you live.
- Please email info@textsanad.com first. We will try to resolve any dispute informally within 30 days.
- If we can't, disputes go to the state or federal courts located in Ohio.
17. General
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us. If one part is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Not enforcing a term is not a waiver. We may transfer this agreement in a merger or sale.
